Cloud computing, mobile technology growing on global scale
A recent study conducted by market research firm International Data Corporation indicated that despite economic concerns, cloud computing remains a key technology for companies on a global scale.
IDC added that the cloud continues to evolve at a steady pace and more organizations are turning to its disaster recovery and business continuity solutions.
Another key trend is the rapid adoption of mobile devices among employees.
"At a global level the increased use of mobile devices in the enterprise and the move to cloud computing are just two of the developments that herald that move to a 'third platform' in IT, the biggest change since client/server computing in the 1980s," said IDC research director John Gilsenan.
The IDC official added that vendors that take advantage of these developments stand to benefit the most in 2012.
As more organizations turn to cloud computing for its myriad advantages, data protection remains crucial for all companies. To ensure their mission-critical files are safe during a cyberattack, natural disaster or other disruption, businesses can use cloud-based email continuity solutions to continue operating despite these incidents.
