Many companies losing productivity searching for lost, deleted email
A new study of U.S. and U.K. businesses conducted by a security services provider indicated that many have failed to adopt email archiving solutions and have lost productivity as a result.
Of those companies surveyed, 69 percent indicated that employee requests to locate deleted email is a productivity drainer. Also, respondents on average revealed they receive more than 15 requests on a weekly basis to access archived or old email, while 26 percent experienced 18 or more each week.
According to the study, 45 percent of businesses indicated they lack any IT solution to manage and automate their email retention and retrieval.
"Nineteen percent say the information contained within their archived email is 'priceless' to the organization, while three-quarters value their organization's archived email data at more than $100,000," the company stated.
Since businesses lose valuable time searching for lost or deleted messages, cloud-based email archiving solutions are ideal for a variety of reasons. These systems offer unlimited storage capacity for all documents, attachments, instant messages and email and allow companies to retrieve relevant data through its real-time search capabilities.
