More than half of IT leaders expect to increase technology spending in 2012

This year, more organizations are expected to increase their IT spending to take advantage of emerging technologies, such as mobility and cloud computing.

According to a recent study by IT staffing firm TEKsystems, 53 percent of IT leaders surveyed said they plan to increase their budgets in 2012. Of the CIOs polled, 66 percent answered this way.

More than 50 percent of IT leaders said they are currently engaged in or plan to implement mobility initiatives, while 43 percent said they will perform these actions with the cloud, according to the study.

"During 2011, a number of trends like mobility, cloud computing and business intelligence garnered a lot of hype, but many organizations did not adopt and implement these initiatives right away," said TEKsystems director Rachel Russell. "In 2012 organizations will be more prepared to take action."

Companies considering cloud computing solutions may want to look to cloud-based email archiving to meet their IT needs. The systems provide unlimited storage capacity and real-time search capabilities so enterprise email and other electronic documents can be located quickly and efficiently.
