Study: Majority of IT companies plan to increase future cloud spending

A recent Network World study regarding the use of cloud computing indicates that more IT organizations are warming to the technology.

Of those companies surveyed, 55 percent said they have at least one application in the cloud and these businesses have also allocated 10 percent of their IT budget for the technology. When asked what their cloud spending will be in the next year, nearly 60 percent said it will increase, while 42 percent said it will remain the same.

The news provider noted that some of the key benefits associated with the cloud include its cost-efficiency.

"Asked if they anticipate that cloud will save them money in the long-term but drive up short-term costs, 16 percent of the respondents strongly agreed, 45 percent agreed, 19 percent disagreed and 4 percent strongly disagreed," said the Network World report.

Businesses seeking ways to leverage the power of cloud computing while keeping their costs down can use email archiving solutions to address these needs. Cloud-based systems offer unlimited storage capacity to keep spending down, as well as real-time search capabilities so companies can easily locate their email, instant messages, documents and other attachments.
