The Internet Help Desk

In today's day and age, the internet is a critical part of everyday life. From the way we receive information, to the way we communicate, and even to the way we do our shopping, the world wide web has become a staple in day to day routines. If you are a beginner to the world wide web, there are some basic ideas and principles you need to understand. In the late 1960s, the University of California created what is called ARPANET. This program became the foundation of the internet. ARPANET relied on packet switching, which is now the main network for communication we use today to transmit data. Over the next decade, there were many different version of networks that were made, mostly by Universities. The only problem was, with so many different complicated networks, there was no way to combine all of them to form one standard working network. In 1973, developments of a protocol called TCP/IP were made. This protocol reduced network systems to basic components that were compatible across the board. Eventually, the TCP/IP network connections became world wide, allowing people in other countries to connect and share information. Through evolution and improvements in technology, by the early 1990s, the basis of the internet we know and love today was formed.
