An Open Letter to President-elect Barack Obama

TORRANCE, Calif., November 25, 2008 — LiveOffice, the leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, today issued the following open letter to President-elect Barack Obama, urging him to add another "first" to his record by becoming the first emailing president:

Dear President-elect Obama:

As the New York Times reported recently, you’ve got a problem-your email. Experts (and according to the story, even your advisors) say that the Presidential Records Act makes it too risky for you to keep emailing and using your trusty BlackBerry once you take office. But you built your campaign platform around the idea of change, and we say it’s time to buck the trend and turn you into an emailing, BlackBerry’ing commander-in-chief. We’re confident it can be done.

“How?” you ask. What you need is an email archiving system that securely captures all the messages you send and receive and preserves them in their original format. It can even handle email messages you send from your BlackBerry. Plus, if you opt for a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering, you can be up and running in just a few days (and you’ll never even notice a difference in your email).

As the first emailing president, an email archiving solution can help you:

Increase the transparency of your administration (which you’ve said is a top priority)

Prevent the risk of lost messages (and the subsequent bad PR &#8211 as we saw when the Bush administration lost “potentially millions” of messages)

Benefit from the efficiencies of email while protecting your messages in a highly secure environment

As the developer of one of the first cloud-based email archiving solutions, we can tell you from firsthand experience that being the first to do something is always buzz worthy—and a solid email archiving system can make you the first emailing president. That’s our platform, and we’re sticking to it.

Respectfully,
Troubled Archive Relief Program (TARP) Helps Offload Email Archiving Management to the Cloud

New no-hardware service helps SMBs disaster-proof their internal mail servers

TORRANCE, Calif., November 4, 2008 - LiveOffice, the leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, today launched the Troubled Archive Relief Program (TARP), a combination of products and services designed to provide relief to the hundreds of organizations currently struggling to deploy and manage on-premise email archiving products. The LiveOffice TARP program enables organizations to realize the mailbox management, compliance and e-discovery benefits that initially drove them to implement email archiving, while offloading the management of the archive to LiveOffice’s cloud-computing infrastructure.

According to industry research firm Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), roughly 33% of North American companies have deployed email archiving solutions to help them cost effectively retain more information, comply with record retention regulations and expedite electronic discovery processes. [1] “Email archiving offers a variety of attainable benefits and is imperative when it comes to effective message management today, which is why we expect the adoption of it to continually grow,” said Brian Babineau, senior analyst with ESG. “The challenge for many organizations without a solution in place is choosing between SaaS and on-premise email archiving options, while existing email archive customers must determine whether to continue with their on-premise archiving or move to a SaaS offering. Each business has to make its own choice, but our goal is to make sure decision makers are guided to a solution that best meets their specific needs.”

TARP Launch Event

To mark the official launch of TARP, LiveOffice is hosting a complimentary webinar entitled, “On-Premise versus Hosted Email Archiving Solutions,” tomorrow at 10 a.m. PST. Industry Analyst Brian Babineau of ESG and CEO Nick Mehta of LiveOffice will explore the evolution and benefits of email archiving, discuss the “new” archiving decision and outline the total cost of ownership for on-premise versus hosted email archiving solutions. To attend this event, please register at: https://liveofficeevents.webex.com/liveofficeevents/onstage/g.php?t=a&d=666833329.

TARP Bailout Package

While on-premise archives provide significant functionality, companies with limited IT staff and budget constraints often struggle to successfully deploy and manage these products. To rescue companies overwhelmed by on-premise deployments, as well as those struggling to make the choice between on-premise and software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, LiveOffice has assembled a comprehensive bailout package, including:

Online TCO Calculator: Available at no cost, LiveOffice’s fully interactive Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Calculator asks users for responses to four simple questions, which are then run through a series of formulas to produce a customized report in just seconds. The resulting document provides an item-level cost comparison on what an organization can expect to spend for an on-premise versus SaaS email archiving solution. The assumptions behind the model are based on actual hardware, software, setup and ongoing maintenance costs as well as industry best practices.

ESG Information Management Brief on LiveOffice TCO Calculator: Not all vendor-generated TCO calculators are created equal. This brief, written by widely respected research firm ESG, provides third-party validation of LiveOffice’s TCO model and confirms its accuracy.

Free Trial of LiveOffice’s SaaS Email Archiving Solutions: Companies exploring SaaS email archiving are encouraged to test drive the LiveOffice archiving service that best meets their needs during a 14-day, no-strings-attached trial.

On-Site Visit from LiveOffice’s TARP Team: LiveOffice has assembled a veteran team of archiving professionals prepared to visit companies with troubled archiving deployments, assess their current situation and provide a recommendation on how best to maximize their email archiving investment moving forward.

On-Premise Migration Services: LiveOffice has partnered with Procedo, a leading provider of data archive migration services, to provide special discount pricing for companies wishing to migrate their legacy email data to one of LiveOffice’s SaaS email archiving solutions.

“Many organizations are quickly realizing that their current on-premise solution isn’t satisfying their changing needs or the lengthy, resource-intense deployment is proving too costly,” said Joseph Kvidera, CEO of Procedo. “Adding insult to injury, they feel stuck because they dread the cost, complexity and risk of do-it-yourself data migration. That’s where we can help. Our partnership with LiveOffice provides these companies with a comprehensive approach to legacy data migration and means that they can be up and running on their new SaaS email archiving system in just days.”

LiveOffice Launches Free Cloud-based Email Continuity Service

New no-hardware service helps SMBs disaster-proof their internal mail servers

TORRANCE, Calif., September 29, 2008 —Recently, scores of businesses in the southeastern United States have experienced significant email downtime because of Hurricanes Gustav, Hanna and Ike. In an effort to help these and all businesses protect their email from the unexpected (as well as the expected), LiveOffice, the leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, today launched LiveOffice Mail Continuity as part of its fall LiveOffice Mail Archive release. This new service, which the company is offering at no charge, leverages LiveOffice’s cloud-computing infrastructure to provide free email continuity for Microsoft Exchange Server, keeping business email running during a primary mail server failure.

A September 2008 survey conducted by Osterman Research polled 165 IT managers and email administrators at midsize organizations nationwide. The findings reveal that 50 percent of respondents do not currently have an email continuity solution in place. Of those who say they do, nearly half are relying on tape backups. But tape backups fall short for email continuity in several aspects:

Recovery can take hours, days or weeks.

During downtime, users have no email service.

Without business email service, users often resort to using personal email accounts during outages, exposing organizations to security risks, compliance violations and legal liability.

All data is not recoverable—anything created after the last backup is permanently lost. For example, if backups happen daily, all data between the last day’s backup and the outage is unrecoverable.

“No matter the cause, email downtime is a serious problem for many businesses and impacts millions of users each day,” said Michael Osterman, president of Osterman Research. “When an employee cannot communicate or share data via email either internally with co-workers or externally with customers, a company’s bottom line is severely jeopardized.”

Nick Mehta, CEO of LiveOffice concurs, “Historically, only the largest enterprises have been able to provide continuous email service, implementing expensive hardware-based replication and clustering solutions that cost thousands of dollars. The average SMB organization is left with nothing but AOL and Hotmail during email outages. With Mail Continuity, we are able to leverage our existing software-as-a-service infrastructure to protect clients’ email environments for free and help them take a ‘baby step’ toward a cloud-based email infrastructure.”

How Mail Continuity Works

Mail Continuity can be deployed in just days and requires no investment in hardware, software or ongoing maintenance. Since Mail Continuity leverages Microsoft Exchange Server’s existing journaling functionality, all administrators have to do is make a simple configuration change and route their messages through LiveOffice’s SAS-70 II-certified, Tier-4-compliant network.

When a company with Mail Continuity experiences a primary server failure, its IT administrator can immediately activate the service through a web-based interface or by contacting LiveOffice toll-free. Users can then access a seven-day rolling archive of their recent messages via a dedicated folder in Microsoft Outlook or remotely through a web-based, Microsoft Outlook-like interface. They also have the ability to compose, read, forward, reply to, spell check and format email during the downtime.

Since Mail Continuity leverages the same infrastructure as LiveOffice’s email archiving offering, clients using the free service can upgrade to the full Mail Archive solution with no additional deployment or configuration changes. With this version, they also benefit from Mail Archive’s robust mailbox management, e-discovery and compliance capabilities.

Introducing Unlimited Outlook

As part of the fall release, LiveOffice also announced the availability of Unlimited Outlook, a feature that tightens Mail Archive’s integration with Microsoft Outlook. These enhanced capabilities provide:

Unlimited storage at a predictable, per-user-per-month price, eliminating the need to store emails and attachments locally as a means of circumventing mailbox quotas

Direct access to messages from a web-based Outlook folder, allowing users to quickly and easily search, view and restore historical emails and attachments from their personal archives

Centralized deployment of the Outlook web folder by administrators via LiveOffice’s CloudLink Console, a pure SaaS, non-stubbing approach to full Outlook integration that leaves zero footprint on client-side machines

Pricing & Availability

While this type of email continuity service has traditionally been offered for thousands of dollars, Mail Continuity is available now for free (purchase of Mail Archive is not required). Unlimited Outlook is available now as a part of the Mail Archive solution.

Top Email Archiving Provider LiveOffice Earns Spot on Inc. 5000

Impressive Revenue Growth Also Yields Regional "Top 100" Distinction

TORRANCE, Calif., August 22, 2008—LiveOffice, the leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, has earned a spot on this year’s Inc. 5000, a prestigious annual list of the fastest-growing private companies in the country. This ranking reflects LiveOffice’s three-year growth rate of 176.7%, which has been fueled by the increasing demand for the company’s SaaS email archiving, compliance and e-discovery solutions. LiveOffice also ranked among the Top 100 Businesses in the Los Angeles region.

“Being recognized as one of the fastest-growing companies in the nation is a huge honor for us and great validation for the growing interest in SaaS solutions,” said Nick Mehta, chief executive officer of LiveOffice. “We have big growth plans for the coming years and are thrilled with the progress we’ve made to date. This award also provides us with the perfect opportunity to thank our clients, many of whom have been with us since the beginning, for their loyalty and to reaffirm our commitment to providing them with the best technology and service levels possible.”

Cofounded a decade ago by Alexander Rusich and Matt Smith, who now serve as chief visionary officer and chief operating officer respectively, LiveOffice was one of the first technology companies in the financial services industry to recognize that software could be effectively and securely delivered as a service via the Internet. Today, the company has grown into one of the leading email archiving and compliance providers, helping more than 7,500 clients across a range of industries manage their messaging needs.

“Our research suggests that 34% of medium sized organizations are using a SaaS-based solution, while another 24% plan to adopt one or more solutions in the next 24 months,” said Brian Babineau, senior analyst with Enterprise Strategy Group. “The critical nature of email has led many companies to seek out services that help them control storage costs, meet compliance requirements and prepare for legal discovery requests. For the first time, many of these organizations are discovering that SaaS is an effective way to satisfy their email archiving and compliance needs, which is raising visibility for providers like LiveOffice. With their consistent revenue growth, we believe LiveOffice is well positioned for continued success as SaaS offerings become more mainstream.”

The 2008 Inc. 5000 list measures revenue growth from 2004 through 2007. To qualify, companies must be U.S.-based, privately held, for-profit and independent (not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies) as of December 31, 2007, and have had at least $200,000 in revenue in 2004, and $2 million in 2007.
TORRANCE, Calif., August 7, 2008—LiveOffice, the leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, announced today that it has appointed Frank J. Sansone as its chief financial officer. Sansone fills this newly created position to help support the company's ongoing growth and expansion into new markets. He brings 15 years of experience in financial management, compliance and e-discovery, and will oversee LiveOffice's finance, administration and human resource divisions. As part of his new role, Sansone will also serve on the company's board of directors.

"LiveOffice is poised for unprecedented growth in the next few years, and talented leaders like Frank are an integral component to achieving our long-term goals," said Nick Mehta, chief executive officer of LiveOffice. "We are thrilled to welcome Frank to the LiveOffice family and our executive management team. His in-depth experience in the e-discovery space and understanding of complex compliance and legal issues are invaluable as we continue our leadership in the financial services industry and gain a stronger foothold in new markets."

Sansone has extensive experience working for both public and private companies in the software and services industry. Most recently, he served as chief financial officer at Guidance Software (NASDAQ: GUID), where he oversaw the company's worldwide financial planning and analysis, accounting, treasury and tax functions. Sansone joined the company as it began shifting its focus toward external sales through a successful initial public offering. Guidance Software received several top rankings in both the software and service provider categories of the 2008 Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery Survey, and its EnCase product is the highest-rated e-discovery software for search, collection, identification, preservation and processing of electronically stored information.

Prior to his post at Guidance Software, Sansone was a director and vice president of finance for Aspen Technology (NASDAQ: AZPN), where he led the revenue department and played a key role in its Mergers and Acquisitions group. He also served as Petrolsoft Corporation's vice president of finance, building an organization that was ultimately acquired by Aspen Technology. Before joining Petrolsoft, Sansone directed services for Fortune 500 and middle-market companies at PricewaterhouseCoopers and developed extensive experience in SEC reporting, initial public offerings, and mergers and acquisitions.

LiveOffice Achieves Top 10 Ranking in 2008 Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery Survey

TORRANCE, Calif., July 30, 2008 — LiveOffice, the leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, announced today that it has been named a top 10 Electronic Discovery Software provider in the prestigious Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery Survey. Using LiveOffice's technology, companies are able to rapidly respond to e-discovery requests for emails and attachments without having to search backup tapes and PCs individually.

"With the growing focus on email as evidence, companies facing the prospect of litigation, regulatory actions and internal investigations are looking for more effective ways to organize and search email," said George Socha of Socha Consulting LLC. "Our Identification category recognizes companies who rank highly in this area, based on our analysis of information obtained from 155 organizations that consume or provide electronic discovery services and software."

LiveOffice earned distinction as a top Electronic Discovery Software Provider in the Identification category for its ability to help organizations locate emails and attachments that they may have the legal responsibility to preserve and potentially disclose in a prospective legal proceeding. Plus, LiveOffice's SaaS delivery model means that clients are up and running in hours or days, not the traditional weeks or months required for on-premise deployments, giving legal counsel ample time to review and tag case-relevant emails before meeting with the opposing party.

"No organization can afford to ignore the possibility of being involved in litigation. But for companies already in the midst of litigation, the need for an email archiving solution is often immediate, and they don't have the luxury of waiting weeks or months to deploy an on-premise solution," said Walt Kasha, director of product management for LiveOffice's archiving solutions. "With LiveOffice, organizations can respond quickly to an e-discovery request without suffering painful deployment delays or incurring considerable legal expenses."

The Socha-Gelbmann Electronic Discovery Survey was created by consultants George Socha and Tom Gelbmann and examines the size, scope and growth of the electronic discovery market. The 2008 rankings will appear in the August issue of Law Technology News (http://www.lawtechnews.com/).
LiveOffice Extends SaaS Archiving Leadership with New Offering

Cloud Storage Back-End Gives Clients Unlimited Storage and Retention

TORRANCE, Calif., June 16, 2008 —To complement its existing financial services email archiving offering, LiveOffice, the leading provider of software-as-a-service (SaaS) email archiving solutions, today announced the release of LiveOffice Mail Archive. This new email archiving service is designed for businesses and public organizations of all sizes that need the benefits of e-discovery and mailbox management solutions, but are unable to devote the significant internal financial and IT resources required to deploy an on-premise system.

"With the amendments to the U.S. Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and the unrelenting explosion in email volume, interest in email archiving has expanded from the financial services giants to nearly every organization worldwide, large or small," said Nick Mehta, new CEO of LiveOffice and former vice president and general manager of the market-leading, on-premise email archiving product, Symantec Enterprise Vault. "Speaking from personal experience, an increasing number of organizations with limited IT resources need an email archiving solution, but are struggling with the cost, complexity and risk of an internal deployment."

LiveOffice Mail Archive's proprietary archiving platform leverages the latest Web 2.0 and cloud computing technologies to deliver an intuitive, Microsoft Outlook-like user interface, rapid search and retrieval in seconds and a flat monthly cost per user, regardless of storage amount or retention period. Plus, with Mail Archive, customers are up and running in hours or days, not the traditional weeks or months required for on-premise deployments.

"More and more businesses are selecting SaaS email archiving solutions to satisfy their message retention, mail server management and legal discovery requirements," said Carolyn DiCenzo, research vice president for Gartner, Inc. "In addition to meeting this immediate business need, companies are also realizing benefits unique to the SaaS delivery model, including rapid deployment, zero investment in IT infrastructure, guaranteed network availability and a reduced burden on in-house IT resources."

Mail Archive Features

Simplify Mailbox Management: Users access, search and restore historical email from an unlimited archive using an intuitive, Microsoft Outlook-like interface, helping IT staff to:

Reduce storage costs and backup windows through tight email server limits

Minimize help desk calls by allowing users to restore email via self-service search

Eliminate the need for users to create PST files (which result in IT management issues)

Protect Your Organization: Email is automatically and securely captured without user intervention. The emails and attachments are then archived and indexed, enabling organizations to:

Enforce regulations and internal policies around email retention

Quickly and cost effectively search, hold and produce email for e-discovery purposes

Proactively monitor email for inappropriate language and intellectual property theft

Shift the Burden, Maintain System Control: Most importantly, LiveOffice Mail Archive is not software - it's software-as-a-service, ensuring clients benefit from:

No upfront hardware, software or ongoing maintenance costs

No delays in getting their organization up and running on an archiving solution

No worries with 99.99% uptime and geographically dispersed data centers

"Our focus at all levels is to continually improve the experience we provide our guests, which we accomplish by setting and meeting measurable goals. Over the last year, we have been migrating from on-premise applications to SaaS solutions," said Christopher Moyson, director of IT for Give Kids The World, a non-profit resort for children with life-threatening illnesses and their families with a staff of over 130. "As part of this initiative, we needed an email archiving and compliance solution that was compatible with our current enterprise messaging and mobile servers, reduced total cost of ownership by eliminating time-consuming backups and provided search and tag capabilities, while allowing our IT department to focus on Give Kids the World's corporate goals and business plan. LiveOffice met all these requirements, plus we were able to rapidly deploy the system."

Pricing and Availability

Available today, LiveOffice Mail Archive starts at $8/mailbox/month with unlimited storage and retention.
LiveOffice Names Email Archiving Veteran Nick Mehta as CEO

TORRANCE, Calif., May 15, 2008 LiveOffice, the leading provider of managed email archiving, email compliance, email security and Exchange hosting solutions, today announced the appointment of Nick Mehta as CEO. Mehta, who joined the LiveOffice board in January 2008, succeeds company Cofounder Alexander Rusich as CEO. Rusich will continue as chairman of the board and assume the new role of chief visionary officer (CVO), overseeing the company's long-term strategy and technology development. LiveOffice Cofounder Matt Smith remains as president and chief operating officer (COO).

"Given his wealth of experience, we are thrilled to have Nick join the executive team and are confident that he will play a pivotal role in LiveOffice's expansion into new markets," said Rusich. "Nick's extraordinary energy, keen understanding of the messaging industry and commitment to continuing the company's strong operating performance are all highly critical to our long-term success."

For the better part of the last decade Mehta built his reputation in the email and messaging space, holding senior operating roles for public and private companies in the enterprise and consumer technology markets. He spent more than five years at Symantec Corporation (NASDAQ: SYMC) and Veritas Software Corporation (acquired by Symantec in 2005), where he served as vice president and general manager of the Enterprise Vault (formerly KVS)
information archiving and discovery software business from its acquisition in 2004 until 2007. During this time, the business grew from $23 million in annual sales to over $200 million and received recognition from ESG, Gartner, Forrester, IDC and Radicati as being the leading product in the "on-premise" email archiving market.

"LiveOffice provided me with a tremendous opportunity to join a fast growing and profitable software-as-a-service (SaaS) company in the messaging industry that I'm so passionate about," said Mehta. "I appreciate the capital cost and complexity inherent in even the best of onsite solutions, particularly for organizations with limited IT resources. I am a big believer that the SaaS model will become prevalent in messaging, as we have seen in other software categories."

According to Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG) research, organizations will archive more than 8,000 petabytes of email data between now and 2010. "This capacity is phenomenal, especially given that email archive solutions are only used by 35% of organizations," said ESG Senior Analyst Brian Babineau. "This indicates to me that the market is ripe for innovative archiving solutions, especially for small to midsize enterprises that need a managed services approach to reap the benefits of lower storage costs, improved compliance processes and enhanced litigation readiness. This is where a company like LiveOffice comes into play, because they are well positioned to deliver the value of email archiving without requiring IT departments to buy, install, configure and maintain on-premise software solutions." Babineau added, "Given his success in the on-premise archiving market, Nick's decision to join LiveOffice validates that there is a huge opportunity for managed service providers."

Prior to his role as general manager of Symantec's Enterprise Vault, Mehta held other positions leading product management for all email-related businesses at Symantec and previously for CommandCentral, a suite of storage management solutions. Prior to Veritas, he ran product management at XDegrees, a venture-funded storage software startup that was acquired by Microsoft. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Biochemical Sciences and a Master's degree in Computer Science from Harvard University.
